DUTIES:
The VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT is seeking a highly qualified Interventional Radiologist for our Radiology Department. This position offers rewarding opportunities to enhance patient care delivery and the educational programs of a well-established and respected academic affiliate while living in a beautiful New England setting.

Applicants must be Board Certified and qualify for an academic appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher within the Department of Radiology, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Clinical responsibilites include inpatient an! d outpatient image interpretation and procedures in addition to medical student and intern/resident training.

The Radiology Staff Physician is administratively and clinically responsible to the Chief, Radiology Service. He/she promotes quality patient care as a clinical expert in radiology; works as a mentor, preceptor, consultant and researcher; works collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and hospital goals.

Qualified applicants should have previous training or work experience in a academic institution as well as teaching experience and desirable demonstration of research.

The incumbent will provide education and training to members of the medical staff through various conferences, committees and lecture series.

The incumbent will participate in clinical conferences for optimizing patient care. The incumbent may be assigned administrative or managerial responsibilities through participation ! in clinical, educational and administrative committees, task groups or ! special projects as needed by the service line.

Specific Duties for Interventional Radiologist Physician:
·

Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic angiographic and vascular procedures.

·

Biliary drainage, percutaneous biliary stent insertion.

·

Percutaneous biliary stone extraction through T- tube tracts.

·

Percutaneous nephrostomy and ureteral stent insertion

·

Percutaneous drainage procedures of abdominal, thoracic and pelvic fluid collections

·

Percutaneous gastrostomy, gastrojejunostomy and balloon dilation of enteric strictures, etc.

·

Dialysis access (catheter placement - including tunneled ! catheters)

·

Dialysis AV fistula evaluation and management

·

Angioplasty and angiographic stenting

·

Vascular embolization procedures

·

Facet and other joint injections for pain management

·

PICC and other central line placements

·

Paracentesis

·

Thoracentesis

·

Lumbar puncture

·

Myelography

·

Arthrography

·

CT and U/S guided biopsies.

·

Cardiac CTAs and Cardiac MR - desired.

·

Chemoembolization - desired

·

Vertebroplasties - desired

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

b. Education! .

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II,! chapter 1.

Applicants must provide a copy of their college transcripts.

c.

Licensure.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.

Must pass a pre-employment physical.

e. English Language Proficiency.

Physicians must be proficient in spoken and written English.
