DUTIES:
The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont, is seeking a highly qualified Staff Physiatrist to work u

nder
the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service Line. The Physiatrist
will be responsible for multiple clinic responsibilities for patient care needs
in either a primary or supporting role.

Areas of impact will include amputation and
brace clinic, polytrauma/TBI clinic, spinal cord injury and disorders clinic, Compensation
and pension examinations and research.

In addition, collaboration and consultation with pain services and with
our academic affiliate for establishing, promot! ing and fostering research based
activities may be included.

This

position requires that the physician:
1.

Have working knowledge of outpatient
services in physical medicine and rehabilitation, including physical therapy,
occupational therapy , speech and language pathology, recreational therapy,
social work, psychology, compensation and pension, amputation care, telehealth
service delivery and research protocols.

2.

Be accessible and available to
personnel in the outpatient clinics of the S&PRS Service (Rehabilitation
Medicine Service clinics, Wheelchair clinics, Amputee clinics, TBI and SCI
clinics).

3.

Be responsible for integrating the
core values and mission into the rehabilitation process

4.

Be actively engaged in the performance
of the S&PRS outpatient and inpatient programs in the areas of:

a.

Financial management

(VISN) and national (CO) strategic plans

Safety

Focus on the person served

Management of programmatic outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
a.

Citizenship

. Citizen of the United States.

b.

Education.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional m! embership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.

Applicants must provide an official copy of their college transcripts.

c.

Licensure.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a r! equirement for continuing active, current licensure.

Must pass a pre-employment physical.

English Language Proficiency.

Physicians must be proficient in spoken and written English

Board certified in PM&R is preferred.
