The Operating Room Registered Nurse assists doctors and surgeons in the operating room and checks ! patient vital signs during surgery. They work alongside surgical teams to make sure that patients are receiving the best possible care, and serve as liaisons between the surgical team and the patients' families. OR RNs interview and assess patients on the day of surgery, monitor patients and coordinate care during surgery, maintain a sterile operating room during surgery while always acting as the liaison between the surgical team and patient families. The ideal travel nursing OR candidate should be willing and able to work and be on call during weekends, holidays and take call, especially if working at a Trauma Center. An Operating Room nurse should be multifaceted, structured and a strong patient advocate. OR travel nurses are extremely well compensated and always in demand.
