JOB DESCRIPTION:
Schedule: TUESDAY - SATURDAY, 11:00pm - 7:30am
Initial 12 week training period for this role may follow an alternate shift/schedule. Upon completion of the training period, our new team member will assume the night schedule as stated above.
Rate of Pay: Please note that the CSR Tech is a union position. Unless you have prior experience in CSR, your starting pay rate will be at Step 1 - $12.95/hr.
Shift Differential: There is a $2.70/hr differential on top of the hourly rate of pay for night hours worked. There is a $4.70/hr differential on top of the hourly rate of pay for weekend night hours worked.
CSR stands for Central Sterile Reprocessing. It is such an important area in our hospital as its main role is keeping all instrumentation used in patient care sterile, safe and ready for re-use. The CSR Technician is responsible for retrieving and processing incoming instrumentation and equipment that is used on our patients. It is important to note that because these instruments are used in surgery, they may come back with bodily fluids on them.
This position is responsible for cleaning and sterilization duties for operating room instrumentation, satellite locations and procedure rooms. S/he restocks nursing sets and specialty carts and assembles case carts. S/he responds to operating room requests when covering for the case cart coordinator. S/he may be required to obtain supplies from the UVMMC warehouse or from CSR on either campus.
Education:
Must have high school diploma or GED. One year of college preferred. Certification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician is required within one year of starting in this role.
Experience:
Must have at least one year of experience in a healthcare setting. The successful applicant must have a strong understanding of the English language in person and over the phone. Strong communication skills are needed and used in an often urgent environment. Excellent customer service skills and outstanding attention to detail are required. Experience in inventory, pick pack or processing is strongly preferred.
