In order to support the Costing for Cabin, Hydraulic and Mechanical Systems, Airbus Commercial is looking for a

Cost Engineer (d/f/m)

The team Costing for Cabin, Hydraulic and Mechanical Systems is a key enabler for Airbus to reach competitive costing targets for all programs and pricing agreements with suppliers.

In this position, you work as a cornerstone to improve the techno-economic performance of the system and its equipment. For that, you have to collaborate with multifunctional interfaces with an inquiring and open mind. A deep technical background, associated with a wide interest on business and industrial matters, allows you to identify the stakes and levers to support decision making (technical trade off, business case) or to contribute to competitive pricing (support suppliers’ negotiation).

Today, like all departments in AIRBUS including Cost Engineering, are moving towards digital costing for better efficiency and reliability. It allows you to focus on activities with higher adding values by making the figures speak, by giving key elements for Value Analysis and Design to Cost opportunities during definition and design phases.

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • In this role you understand the system and equipment design solutions designed by suppliers

  • You provide recurring and non-recurring cost breakdowns with rationale by ensuring good understanding, credibility and durable confidence in costing figures

  • You are responsible to highlight cost drivers and identify opportunities by giving the cost sensitivity for challenging requirements and optimizing solutions in definition and design phases

  • Furthermore, you develop and capitalize more efficient cost engineering models / references utilizing statistical and mathematical methods and taking advantage of available corporate data

  • You present and defend costing estimates within AIRBUS (Power of Judgement) and in front of suppliers (to contribute to competitive price agreements)

Your hard skills and qualifications:

  • Educated Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Technology

  • You have several years of experience in electronics & mechanical equipment design: Design principles and manufacturing processes

  • You are familiar with the system products (e.g. hydraulic system, high lift system, air conditioning system, bleed, cabin and/or other)

  • Strong manufacturing engineering and industrial best practice processes are part of your expertise (manufacturing processes, mechanical assembly methods & technologies, machines)

  • You have several years experience in electro-mechanical system/equipment

  • Profound experience in cost calculation / modeling complete your profile

  • Your experience in subcontractor management is required

  • Profound knowledge of project management is a clear plus

  • German and English at negotiation level

Business travels:

This position involves a willingness to travel on a regular basis (e.g. 10 - 15 time per year within Europe and worldwide)

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
