DUTIES:
The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont, is seeking a highly qualified Staff Physiatrist. Experience in amputation, spinal cord injury, neuro-rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, polytraumatic injuries and the ability to provide both inpatient and outpatient services is desired. The position offers rewarding opportunities to enhance patient care delivery, direct polytrauma initiatives, and advance the research programs.

Potential Duties include:
Research

Pain medicine

Mobilization and man! ipulation manual techniques

General inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation including assessing and prescribing patients including treatment plans and ongoing care of patients often throughout the continuum.

Collaboration with many subspecialities in a multidisciplinary team approach.

Electro diagnostic testing

Joint and tissue injections

An active participant in systems redesign projects as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned by the Chief of SPRS

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
a. Citizenship . Citizen of the United States.

b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of! medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association o! f American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.

Applicants must provide an official copy of their college transcripts.

c. Licensure. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licens! ure.

d. Physical Requirements. Must pass a pre-employment physical.

e. English Language Proficiency. Physicians must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Board certified in PM&R is preferred.
