The VA Medical Center in White River Junction,Vermont (WRJVA) is seeking a highly qualified physician to serve as the Chief of Radiology. WRJVA is Joint Commission Top Performer , 60 acute care and 16 residential bed facility providing health care to over 23,000 Vermont and New Hampshire Veterans with services from our main campus and seven supporting Community Based Outpatient Clinics. We are closely affiliated with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and train medical students,residents and fellows in a wide range of specialties. A $6 million research program is dedicated to basic science, clinical trials and outcomes research. The successful candidate will be a board-certified, highly competent, dynamic physician with demonstrated excellence as a leader, a passion for teamwork and continuous improvement, and the willingness to embrace the Malcolm Baldrige organizational princ! iples. This search is national in scope and candidates must qualify for! an academic appointment at the Assistant Professorlevel or higher within the Department of Radiology, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. The Chief of Radiology is accountable to the Chief of Staff for assuring the most effective delivery of care in Radiology while meeting and exceeding compliance standards.
Duties also include on-call responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light lifting and carrying; reaching above the shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking; correctable vision and hearing; mental and emotional stability. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States.
b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree
resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic me! dicine. The
degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the
Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was
completed. Approved schools are:
(1) Schools of medicine holding
regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical
Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.
(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine
approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the
degree was granted.
(3) Schools (including foreign
schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth
(i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or
unrestricted licensure.
(4) For residents, graduation from
an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in
M-8, part II, chapter 1.
Applicants must provide a
copy of their college transcripts.
c. Li! censure. Current, full
and unrestricted license to practice medicin! e or surgery in a State, Territory,
or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The
physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this
is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
d. Physical Requirements. Must pass a pre-employment physical.
e. English Language Proficiency. Physicians must be proficient in spoken and written
English.
Preferred
Experience: Supervisory Experience Experience in an institution affiliated with an accredited radiology program and radiology fellowships Experience teaching and supervising radiology residents and fellows at a teaching Medical Center Demonstrated leadership in performance improvement and patient safety projects
